Project 52 – Silhouette | Ontario Pet Photographer

It is hard to believe that we have almost reached the end of Project 52 for 2011, but here we are! Given the balmy weather we are enjoying today, no one would think that this is the end of December. But I, for one, will not complain about the lack of  icy conditions and awful commutes. I am sure they are coming.

For this week, we were given the theme “silhouette” and the Posh Pets studio decided to do some still life imagery which I actually love. This beautiful guy hails from South Africa and was a gift from a dear friend of mine who had the opportunity to travel there at the beginning of the year. Usually he sits on my dresser where, interestingly, he has never been thrown onto the floor by one of our acrobatic cats. (Not that they ever admit to moving anything.) I guess he has a quiet resolve about him that even they know it would be wrong to mistreat him so horribly. And so, he stands and carefully watches over the comings and goings that is our life.

Today, however, he was the star of his own photo session and provided a striking silhouette as he marches across the African Savanna…

Hope you enjoyed your visit here today. However, this is a blog circle which means more amazing imagery is just a click away. To start with, please check out the talented Dana Cubbage! Her work is always stunning.

“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy…”

This week’s image was to be something that reminds us of summer. If you live around here, you know that weather in Toronto this week was crazy! We had a fearsome windstorm and downpour on Sunday, felt the after effects of an earthquake on Tuesday and an amazing “light show” from a thunderstorm with tornado watch on Wednesday evening. What a way to end the summer!

But that is not how I remember summer.  Living in Canada where we enjoy a true snowy winter, my memories of summer are simple.  And so I present to you my image for this week – sunlight playing on lovely, green grass.

Project 52 – Going to the Movies! | Toronto Pet Photographer

This week’s image was all about the movies which took me back to one of the first Disney movies I ever watched – The Aristocats.  I remember being enthralled with the lives of these cats with such personality.  And it stayed with me.  Even though it was released before I was born, as an adult, I had my own copy of the movie.  My favourite line?  The conversation between the siblings Marie, Toulouse and Berlioz.

Marie:  Me first!  Me first!

Toulouse:  Why should you be first?

Marie:  Because I’m a lady.  That’s why.

Toulouse:  Oh, you’re not a lady.

Berlioz:  You’re nothing but a sister!

So, for this week’s images, I bring you Thomas O’Malley, Duchess, Marie, Berlioz and Toulouse!  Great models they were – patiently sitting while I adjusted the lighting and found my angles.  No wiggling, no moving, always looking in the direction they were asked, they were perfect.

So…what is your favourite pet-related movie?
