WE MADE THE COVER! | Modern Cat Magazine + Posh Pets® Photography

Posh Pets® Photography — a Toronto-based pet photography studio specializing in dog and cat portraits — is thrilled to share our latest milestone: landing the cover of Modern Cat magazine. Below is why this cover matters, and what it means for our clients and their beloved pets.

As a pet photographer…

…there are days when you wake up to the best of news. The type that makes you pinch yourself and smile to your cheeks hurt and start to build some confidence in your craft. This is one of those days.

I’m thrilled that I can finally share that one of my images has been selected for the cover of Modern Cat magazine. Yes — the cover! It still feels unreal to type that out.

As a Toronto pet photographer who doesn’t just photograph dogs, but also love the felines, this type of honour makes me nearly purr.

So, without any further hesitation, here it is!

A Cover is never “just a cover”

When you first start your photography journey, you dream of seeing your work in print. With less and less print magazines being published, it’s getting harder and harder to reach this dream. But, this cover is also reminder of why I fell in love with photographing pets in the first place.

Cats especially keep you on your toes (or, toe beans!). If you have the priviledge to share your life with a cat, you know that you don’t pose a cat; you negotiate with one. They challenge you to make it work. (Side point: this fact is also the reason why many ‘pet’ photographers, are in fact, dog photographers – simply put: cats can be hard.)

This cover is a celebration of the moment when a beautiful cat decides, “Alright. I’ll give you the shot.”

Want your pet to be next?

No, I cannot promise a magazine cover 😉

But I am promising images that are timeless, heartfelt, and uniquely them.

If you’ve been thinking about a session — whether a studio portrait or an outdoor adventure — this is the perfect moment to reach out. I’d love to create something to treasure for you and your pets.

We met Susan Hay of Global News Toronto!

In case you missed it, earlier this week I was featured on Global News Toronto as part of the Tails of the World book project. I was also asked to be filmed while photographing two dogs who will be a part of the project, Sophie and Myca.

The experience was both nerve-racking and exhilarating. As a professional pet photographer, I am used to being behind the camera, but being in front of it was a whole other thing. However, I was thrilled to be able to share my love of photographing the dogs and cats of Toronto, as well as the work I do for Fetch + Releash.

See some of the photographs we produced, the behind-the-scenes, a recording of the Global News segment, and information on how you can be a part of the next Tails of the World project.

The Featured Photographs

The one thing I did not worry about were the models. I’ve worked with Myca (the bernedoodle) and Sophie (the pomeranian) numerous times in the past, and they always knock it out of the park. The bonus is that, when these two appear, no one looks at me anyway laughing
