After a bit of a vacation, I went back to TAS this morning. Boy, did that feel good! Lots of tail-waggers to meet and photograph, and some really gorgeous pets just awaiting their forever homes. If you see a guy or gal that you like, please contact Toronto Animal Services (North Region) directly. They can arrange a meeting with your prospective new family member.
You can also find out a little bit more about each of these furry faces on the Posh Pets’ Facebook page. Please check it out and share their images!
First, are the graceful felines…
And now the tail-wagging canines…
Thanks for joining us – we’ll see you again next week!
Continuing with our trip through Israel, it is obvious that Tel Aviv-ians (I just made that word up) love their dogs! It seems that every second person on the street is sharing the sunshine with a canine companion. They come in all shapes and sizes, often greeting each other freely, running and playing and having a ball just being a dog.
Today, we met Maxwell who is a 6 year old Boston. Originally from the United States, he now makes his home in Tel Aviv where he is a rare breed – we certainly have not seen another Boston other than gentlemanly Maxwell. To see what I mean, look how well he coordinates his harness with his human’s shoes. And the fact that he was so gracious to stop for a few minutes to provide us with his portrait, even though there were so many other things for a well-bred dog to see and do.
He finally gave us his best head tilt, before going on his way toward the beach. Maxwell is a dog about town and such a wonderful furry face!
Look at this little furry face I met yesterday! Soya is 2 years old and comes to work with her Dad. Her job is to greet the visitors as they go through the booth at Ein Gedi, Israel. (Which, by the way, is gorgeous and a fabulous opportunity to view some waterfalls, swim in the pools and generally enjoy an oasis in the barren desert!) On this particular day, it was HOT. Not a cloud in the sky and 42 degree weather…perfect weather for a swim. But not so perfect if you are a dog with hair. And, so we met Soya, resting in the shade of the booth and ready for her close-up!
Even though we are continuing our trip through Holland, I have to get my puppy fix every day. Today, we found ourselves wandering the streets of Den Haag (The Hague, Holland) and, in particular, the Palace Gardens right beside the Royal Stables. It is there that we met this lovely furry face, named Fleur. She is an 11 year old dachshund who certainly knows how to make friends! She came up to greet us and then promptly lay on her back to allow me give her a belly rub…and then when I stopped, she begged with her two front paws for me to continue, all the while looking up at me expectantly.
Now, it was time for a real portrait. Look at the intensity on that little face, and the raised right paw, as she discusses things with her Dad.
And then what we were all waiting for…the pose and the head-tilt!
Such a darling to work with, Fleur obviously lives a good life. I hope her golden years are full of happiness and a full-time staff to dole out the belly rubs!
There was a whole gaggle of furry faces that passed in front of the Posh Pets‘ lens this week! And each one was adorable and is eagerly awaiting their forever family to come and find them! There is a little more info on each of these future pets on the Posh Pets’ Facebook page, but please contact Toronto Animal Services (North Region) directly to arrange an introduction. And thank you to all that share their lovely images…it really does help in finding them homes.
I know that I have missed a couple of weeks of Project 52, but I am really excited to get back at it! This week’s theme challenged us to use windows in our image which you can see here. This image is a bit of a tribute to one of the pet photographers that helped me start down the path of pet photography, the very talented Bev Hollis. This is Bev’s dog, Lily, in front of Bev’s house in Virginia and was taken during a photography workshop I attended there. I look at it now and smile, for on this fourth day of the workshop, I had such joy in my belly! Doing something you love will do that to you. Thanks Bev!
Next in our blog circle is Central Coast Pet Photographer, Sharon Stokes. Please check out her work and the rest of the Beautiful Beasties gang’s this week!
This post is long overdue! It was back on June 16, 2012 that Posh Pets had the pleasure of participating in Pet Valu’s (located at King & Dufferin) Grand Re-Opening. We had so much fun photographing these lovely furry faces that day! We (and the dogs and the one cat!) were especially thankful to be inside as it really got hot outside…!
Everyone who came out received a complimentary gorgeous 5×7 print of the chosen image, courtesy of Marilyn & David of Pet Valu. We sincerely hope that you enjoy them for years to come!
I’ve managed to place the final images into a little video slide-show, although I must apologize for the colour being overly saturated. As a photographer, I am very new to the video world and it would seem that the video-processing software I used seems to deepen the colours quite a bit. I will have to figure this part out. You can, however, see all of the images over on the Posh Pets Facebook page if you like.
This week was the first time that Posh Pets Photography photographed guinea pigs! They really are very cute and these two in particular, Molly and Millie, are sisters that would love to be adopted together. And there were a lovely group of furry faces, both canine and feline…so something for everyone. Don’t forget that Toronto Animal Services is offering 2-for-1 adoption fees for all cats who find forever homes until August 15, 2012. So, if you have been thinking about a new family member, don’t delay!
All of these lovely furry faces have more information about them on the Posh Pets Facebookpage, so go ahead and check them out. Of course, you can always contact Toronto Animal Services (North Region) directly if you want to meet any of them!
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of meeting the wonderful Chester and Abbey, a beautiful Sheltie and lovely orange tabby cat. Both are currently 8 years old and share their lives with the human members of their family, who quite obviously love them dearly. They also get along with each other famously!
We started their custom photography session in their backyard to capture some of the environment where they spent a lot of their time. But then we moved to a lovely park in Port Credit to take advantage of the beautiful late afternoon light. Chester was a true gentleman, posing as if he were born to it. And he even got to run around a bit. I heard from his mum that he certainly slept well that night!
Chester, you are a delight to spend time with! I love the fringes around your ears and your lovely soft expressions. Your spirit is golden and your’smile’ lights up a room…never change. Thank you so much for allowing us the honour of photographing you!
Here are a few Posh Pets’ favourites of Chester from that afternoon.
Here are this week’s adoptables all looking for a forever home! There are a number of kitties this time around, so please share their faces to help them get a little exposure. And if you see one you like, please contact Toronto Animal Services (North Region) directly and arrange to meet them!
For more information, you can also check out the Posh Pets Facebook page…they are all there gazing back at you!
We met Fritz on a beautiful summer day a few weeks ago (a rare day when it was not blistering hot out). At 13 years of age, Fritz has reached his golden years and shares a quiet life with his human, Maria. As becoming of miniature schnauzer of that age, he took a good long time to check me out and then took to announcing to the neighbourhood that we had become acquainted. However, once the initial introductions were over, he was able to direct his attention to the task at hand…modelling for the Posh Pets‘ camera. Given his affinity for his home, Maria opted for a combination of inside and outside images for Fritz’ custom pet photography session.
It is obvious that he is dearly loved and enjoys a lovely life. When I asked Maria what she loved most about him, she replied that, “he is his own man”…in other words, he lets you into his world on his own terms, but once you are accepted, you are safe there forever. And, he does not forget those he has previously met. The difference in our introduction from our initial pre-session consult to the actual pet photography session was marked. Fritz is truly a gentleman.
Fritz, you are a wonderful boy, intelligent and so full of expression. It was a joy and an honour to photograph you and your images will grace the walls of your home and those overseas for years to come! Thank you for allowing us to spend the afternoon with you.
It was a hot morning on Monday when I went in to photograph this week’s adoptables. Dog tongues were hanging out as we found some relief in the shade of a tree. Even the indoor kitties with their fur coats were evidently feeling the heat – I watched as one guy had all four paws in the large water bowl and was happily creating a wave pool with his paw, while simultaneously drinking. His feline friends looked on with curiosity mingled with disdain as he played with their water source.
So, with that, here is this week’s line-up…they are all available and eagerly waiting to meet their forever families at Toronto Animal Services! There is more information about each and everyone of them on the TAS site as well as the Posh Pets’ Facebook page. Please share their furry faces far and wide and let us know if one comes into your home – we love to hear the happy endings!
